Mohan Bhagwat, the head of the RSS, has argued that members of the LGBTQ community and transgender people are human beings with the right to live as others at a time when the Supreme Court is considering a number of petitions calling for the legalisation of same-sex marriage and equal rights for LGBTQ+ people. The RSS Chief stated that “those with such proclivities have always been there; for as long as humans have existed… This is biological, a mode of life” in an interview with Organiser and Panchjanya. We want kids to feel that they have a personal area of their own and are a part of society. Such a basic problem exists here. All other attempts to solve the problem will be fruitless, thus we will have to advocate for this viewpoint.
The organisation probably doesn’t want to be perceived as “regressive” on a subject like homosexual rights as it expands both inside and outside of India. As things are, the Sangh’s hostility to homosexuality wasn’t really a top priority, despite past statements to that effect.The RSS chief’s statement is particularly significant at this moment, when the West is closely monitoring RSS’s operations. A harsh stance toward homosexuality may have contributed to unfavourable opinions of the organisation.
The new-found aggression among Hindus worldwide, according to him, is the result of an awakening in the society that has been at war for more than a thousand years. He claimed that Muslims need not be concerned about their safety in India, but they must give up their “boisterous rhetoric of supremacy.”
