Under the Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana, the Mohan Majhi administration in Odisha modified the colour and style of the school uniforms for Class IX and X pupils attending public and government-aided schools. The uniforms, which were originally green under the BJD government led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2023, would now be light brown and maroon in colour. Girls will wear checkered kurtas with maroon jackets and salwars, while guys will wear light brown shirts with checkered trousers.
The government has accepted the final uniform design and colour, the School and Mass Education Department said in a letter to the Director, Secondary Education. The letter stated, “Schools where uniforms in the old design have not been stitched or distributed may implement the new design.”
The state administration may bring back the former school uniform colour scheme of blue and white, according to remarks made earlier by Minister of School and Mass Education Nityananda Gond.
