More 264 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state within the last 24 hours and among those, 12 were from Cuttack. The district has 139 active cases, 409 recoveries, and four deaths.
An Inspector-in-charge of a police station under the Athagarh sub-division of Cuttack district has tested positive. The police station has already been declared as a containment zone.
The Athagarh SDPO has directed testing of swab samples of 22 staff including officials. More 7-8 employees of the same police station also were reported to have a fever.
On Sunday the IIC of the local police station and SBI cashier tested corona positive at Badamba town and is declared as a containment zone for 72 hours. Even the Badamba police station has also been sealed.
The IIC had a fever for the past week and was staying at CDA Sector-9 since 21st June. To which his swab sample was collected and the result was positive for the virus.
Even the cashier of Badamba SBI Branch who is suspected to have been infected after coming in contact with the IIC is a native of the Dhenkanal district.
Due to which the authorities of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) have declared that part of CDA Sector 9 as containment zone to contain the spread of COVID-19 through active surveillance.
They further instructed that no one will be allowed to neither move into the containment zone nor go outside during the lockdown. The residents are advised to stay in home quarantine till further orders.
The supply of essentials commodities and medical requirements will be assured through various teams formed by CMC.
While the corona warrior has been admitted to Ashwini COVID Hospital, the police station has been sealed for sanitization.
