More than 14 Hindu Temples vandalised in Bangladesh

The local authorities think a series of coordinated attacks by unidentified attackers destroyed 14 Hindu temples in northeastern Bangladesh. Nine temples in the Sindurpindi region of the Dhantala union, four in the Collegepara area of the Paria union, and one in the Sahbajpur Nathpara region of the Charol union reportedly suffered damage from the assailants.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khairul Anam of Baliadangi Police Station told the Dhaka Tribune newspaper, “We suspect that these occurrences occurred between Saturday night and Sunday am.”The attacks coincide with the frequent attacks on temples by pro-Khalistani gangs in Australia and Canada, which have upset the Hindu population. It is significant to know that 319 temples in Bangladesh were assaulted by Islamists in 2022.The event has sparked fear among the minority Hindu community, who are calling for harsh punishment for the offenders.
