The mortal remains of Naveen Shekarappa Gyanagoudar, the Indian medical student who died an unfortunate death in Ukraine amidst the Russia-Ukraine war has been brought back to his home town Bengaluru. All his family members along with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and several state government officials were present at the airport to receive the body.
Bommai laid a wreath on the body. Arrangements have been made to send the body to Naveen’s native village in Karnataka’s Haveri district. The flight carrying the body landed at Bengaluru airport around 3 am.
Addressing mediapersons outside the airport, Bommai thanked the Central government for its efforts to bring back the body. The CM said that bringing back Naveen’s remains was a Herculean task and that they were initially not sure if it would be possible to do so from a war zone.
Naveen’s father has said the body will be donated for medical research.
