MoU Signed Between NLUO & CID CB Of Odisha Police

As stipulated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the State CID and the National Law University in Cuttack, Odisha, seven NLU interns were nominated by the university and began their 30-day internships with the Crime Branch. As part of their internship, students will gain knowledge of how the CID Crime Branch operates in the areas of investigation, prosecution, data collection, collation, and dissemination, examination of various acquittal rulings, case records, and the creation of legal drafts such as counter affidavits and rejoinders to support investigating officers.

Arun Bothra, IPS, CID CB welcomed the NLU Cuttack students to the Crime Branch and urged the interns to make most of the MOU to advance their legal and investigative procedural expertise.He emphasized the importance of reciprocal communication between law students and the police so that both groups may gain from one another’s expertise.

The interns received an introduction to the CID Crime Branch’s case investigation and prosecution process from Sheffen Ahamad K, IG of Police, and Chittaranjan Kanungo, DyDPP CB. Earlier, in November 2022, the MOU was signed between the NLU Cuttack and the Odisha Police, who were both represented by CID CB. Six third-year students and a PhD student arrived for internships after the academic year ended. The purpose of the internship is to provide the NLU Cuttack and the Odisha Police with a new avenue for mutually beneficial exchange. While helping the interns academically, it is anticipated that it will improve the expertise and capabilities of the Odisha Police.
