Mumbai Police Rule Out Cardiac Arrest as Cause of Shefali Jariwala’s Death

Popular actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known for her iconic appearance in the song Kaanta Laga, passed away late Friday night at the age of 42. Initial reports speculated that she died of a cardiac arrest, but Mumbai Police have clarified that the exact cause of her death remains unknown and is under investigation.

Jariwala was reportedly found unresponsive at her Andheri residence and was rushed to Bellevue Hospital by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others. However, hospital authorities confirmed she was brought in dead. “She was already deceased by the time she arrived,” said a hospital staff member.

Police received the emergency call around 1 am and subsequently sent her body to Cooper Hospital for postmortem examination. “The cause of death is not yet clear,” a Mumbai Police official told ANI. A forensic team also visited her home to collect evidence as part of the investigation.

Videos circulating on social media showed a visibly distraught Parag Tyagi exiting the hospital, partially covering his face.

The news of Shefali’s sudden demise was first shared by journalist Vickey Lalwani on social media, stating, “Shefali Jariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, is no more.”

Shefali rose to fame at the age of 20 with her breakout performance in Kaanta Laga, becoming a household name overnight. She went on to feature in various music videos, films, and reality shows including Nach Baliye 5, Nach Baliye 7, and Bigg Boss 13.

She was previously married to musician Harmeet Singh of Meet Bros, before separating in 2009. In 2015, she tied the knot with actor Parag Tyagi.

As the entertainment industry mourns her untimely loss, fans and colleagues await official postmortem findings to understand what led to her sudden death.
