Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, arrested for the gruesome murder of Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, attempted to evade suspicion by traveling to Himachal Pradesh after committing the crime. The duo stayed in a Kasol hotel for six days before returning to Meerut on March 17.
According to police reports, Muskan and Sahil brutally stabbed Saurabh to death on March 4. In a bid to destroy evidence, they chopped his body into pieces, sealed it in a drum with cement, and then fled to Himachal Pradesh.
The couple checked into a hotel in Kasol on March 10, introducing themselves as husband and wife. Hotel operator Aman Kumar revealed that they behaved unusually during their stay. Unlike regular tourists who explore Kasol’s scenic beauty, the duo remained inside room number 203 almost the entire time, stepping out only once a day in their car.
“They did not socialize, refused room cleaning services, and kept interactions with the staff to a minimum,” Kumar said. The couple left on March 16, telling the hotel staff they had come from Manali and were heading back to Uttar Pradesh.
Police investigations uncovered that Muskan had been planning Saurabh’s murder since November 2023. She allegedly manipulated Sahil, who is highly superstitious, by creating a fake Snapchat ID impersonating his deceased mother.
The couple’s attempt to escape scrutiny failed as police tracked them down. They were arrested on March 19 and are now in judicial custody.
SP City Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed their confession and stated that further investigations are underway to uncover more details about the murder plot.
