Real estate is a boosting sector for any developing state. Similarly in Odisha, real estate has a lot of scope for making the state economically stable. Interview Times had a great conversation with a Realtor, Mr. Santosh Senapati, who gave great insights into how consulting firms will help to boost real estate in Odisha. This is how the interview went-

Can you brief about yourself to our readers?
Hello, my name is Santosh Senapati. I was raised as a typical middle-class child in a small village in the district of Ganjam. My schoolings were from the local government schools. However, since childhood, I was keenly vested in playing cricket. Not only cricket, but other sports activities like trekking and hiking also got my attention as well. So, I was like a typical child who loved to play and enjoy his life.
However, as I grew older, I became more serious with my life. But despite being serious, my passion for cricket never died. I did my graduation with Economics Honours. However, at the same time, I took a course at NIIT. After passing out both the institution, I got placed at a computer institute, which provided professional training. After some time, I myself got ownership of the company. However, it didn’t last long as I was unable to get the business for the institute. Therefore, eventually, I had to shut it down.

After which I went to Bhubaneshwar and stayed at my relative’s house and practices cricket. During those days, I got a call from my friend who took me to an interview. Even though I wasn’t called, yet I went to the interview, gave it, and got selected. From there I got to know about the real estate sector and my romantic relationship with real estate began.

Today, I am a proud owner of Rainbow Assets, one of the rare real estate consulting firms in Odisha. Also, I am happily married and have an 11-year-old kid.
Were you inclined towards becoming an entrepreneur since childhood or it developed in you in the later stages of life?
It never happened in childhood. I never took my life seriously in childhood. During my school days, I either wanted to become a cricketer or a teacher. However, as I grew older, I considered the best way to serve society is to become an entrepreneur. Moreover, after being working in the real estate industry for 7 to 8 years, I deemed it was the best platform for me to venture into.

When did you planned to start Rainbow Assets?
I worked in the most important sector of real estate, which is the customer service sector. Before creating my own organization, I worked in a very reputed firm where I had to deal with the various queries of customers and answer them adequately. Moreover, I had a very good time working in that organization for around 4 to 5 years. I always consider Mr. Biswal, the director of my organization as my inspiration. He is my teacher, guru, and mentor. Whatever today I am is because of him.
After discussing with my wife, I ventured into Rainbow assets, after leaving the organization which deals with customer service and consulting relating to real estate in Odisha.

At this stage of my life, I am focusing hard to make the terms “Realtor” and “Property Consultant” Famous.
How has been your journey with Rainbow Assets So far?
We started in May 2011 and got registered in the next month. Since that day, the journey has been great. Initially, I was quite tensed while thinking of the company’s sustenance. However, I was backed by a great team and through highs and lows. we have reached a great position today. With God’s grace, today I have two offices at Bhubaneshwar and Behrampur and been able to feed 14 people and their families. Most importantly I have got a good reputation in society. Therefore, I have no regrets about choosing Rainbow Assets as my career.
How did you manage to keep your calm during the CO-VID Times?
Co-Vid has been one of the most heartbreaking times. Not only because of finances but because of personal loss as well. I have lost a couple of managers and is now looking to get new ones recruited.
During my initial days, my team members backed and supported me. Therefore, it was my time to return their favor in these difficult times. I advised every worker to work from home and did not go for any salary cuts. By god’s grace, everything is getting back to normal and we are back on track.

How do you see the future of the Real Estate sector in a developing state like Odisha?
The future of real estate in Odisha is tremendous. Many of the cities in Odisha like Rourkela and Bhubaneshwar are planned. Moreover, almost every city in our state is in the developing stage. Real estate blooms in cities that are developing. Moreover, the more planned the city, the greater the prospect of real estate there. Therefore, Odisha has a tremendous scope in nurturing the real estate sector.
What can be the possible contribution of Rainbow Assets to make real estate even a bigger economic sector in Odisha?
