State-owned National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed a technology licensing agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to deploy its UAE-developed DX+ Ultra aluminium smelting technology for NALCO’s proposed brownfield expansion at Anugola, Angul, Odisha.
The expansion will add approximately 0.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to NALCO’s aluminium production capacity. Once completed, the company expects its overall aluminium production capacity to move towards 1 MTPA.
Under the agreement, EGA will provide NALCO with the technology licence, technical know-how, designs and technical information, along with support during various stages of project implementation. The DX+ Ultra technology is designed to support higher productivity and improved energy performance while helping optimise capital and operating costs.
The partnership marks a technology-focused step in NALCO’s expansion programme and strengthens international collaboration in Odisha’s aluminium sector. First aluminium production from the expanded facility is expected by the end of 2030.
