After a long wait for nearly a year veteran Australian spinner creates a history. Nathan Lyon, on the fourth day of the 1st Ashes Test of 2021-2022 took his 400 test wicket when he dismissed England’s Dawid Malan on Saturday and then went on to take three more. He resulted in a collapse of England in the second innings as a result of which Australia easily won the first test match by 9 wickets on Day 4.

Lyon ended the day with 403 wickets, two wickets behind West Indies great Curtly Ambrose. He, however, is some distance away from climbing further up on the all-time wicket-takers list for Australia. Lyon is the third player from the country to breach the 400-wicket mark, only behind former fast bowler Glenn McGrath (563 wickets) and Shane Warne (708).
Australia now leads the 5 test Ashes by 1-0. They have quite a good record of Ashes at the home of late by winning 10 of the last 11 matches and one being a draw.
