On October 19, the National Mining and Construction Equipment Summit will be held in Bhubaneswar by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Manufacturers of heavy equipment, including those in the material handling, building engineering, crushing and screening, and mining industries—including PSUs, PSEs, private mine operators, manufacturers of spare parts and components, retailers and distributors, defense and government departments, downstream industries, and partner industries like steel and cement—will all participate in the program.
Mr. Hemant Sharma, IAS Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Odisha, spoke at the press conference and emphasized the substantial technical improvements in the mining industry as well as Odisha’s position as the second-largest state in terms of project constructions.
The summit’s goals, according to Mr. Sharma, include encouraging environmentally sustainable mining, examining the need for new regulations and government action, and talking about the demand for training programs for skilled growth in the mining industry.
An overview of the industry was provided by Mr. Vivek Bhatia, Chairman CII MCED and Managing Director & CEO, thyssenkrupp Industries India. He thanked the government for its assistance and identified the industry as the “thrust sector,” noting that Odisha offers a wealth of potential and that as a result, both domestic and foreign investors are very interested in the area. The state government has developed strategic plans with the help of several stakeholders to entice significant investments and promote sustainable growth in the mining and metals sector. Odisha wants to increase investor trust and bring in a large amount of FDI to the industry.
Mr Sashi Sekhar Mohanty, Chairman, CII Odisha State Council addressed about the Government of Odisha’s various initiatives that has been undertaken and promotional activities to showcase Odisha’s Industrial Ecosystem and attract investments in various sectors from different parts of the Country and the World.
Mr Pradipta Mohanty, Vice Chairman, CII Odisha State Council & Chairman, SNM Group also spoke at the programme.
