In Bhubaneswar, BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu was honoured by Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Naveen Patnaik. During her speech after the ceremony, Murmu stated she is confident that Lord Jagannath would give her all the support she needs to win the presidential elections. The CM held a lunch at his official house.

The chief minister of Odisha, who has frequently shown his support for Murmu, a fellow Odiya, stated that the NDA’s presidential candidate is the “pride” of the eastern state. Additionally, the CM urged Congress to support a local lady. During lunch at Patnaik’s house, images showed Murmu and Patnaik seated next to one another.

Prior to its breakup in 2009, the BJP-BJD coalition government in Odisha included the NDA presidential contender, who used to tie rakhi to Patnaik. Government insiders in the eastern state indicated they anticipate cross-voting in favour of Murmu from the Congress camp.

Murmu, the first tribal woman to be nominated for India’s highest constitutional position, visited Tamil Nadu and Puducherry earlier this week as part of her maiden campaign trip. The unified opposition led by Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has chosen Yashwant Sinha as their candidate for the presidency. He campaigned in Telangana, a southern state.

Murmu hopes to win easily since the BJD’s support is thought to be sufficient for the same. The ruling Janata Dal (United), or JD, in Bihar has also given its support to the NDA presidential contender (U). Additionally, she will receive backing from the Janata Dal (Secular) of Karnataka, the Akali Dal of Punjab, and the Bahujan Samaj Party of Mayawati (BSP).
