Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said on Wednesday that the Odisha government will start giving out new ration cards to recipients next month. After the review of more than ten lakh applications is over, the government will begin distributing new ration cards, the Minister stated. In order to precisely identify eligible beneficiaries, authorities have concentrated on doing e-KYC verification of applications.
In order to preserve the program’s integrity, the government had already declared that ineligible people will be struck off the list of ration card holders under the Food Security Act. The government has established 10 exclusion criteria for families who do not qualify and 12 inclusion criteria for families that do in order to direct this procedure. To guarantee that only worthy households obtain the new ration cards, officials have been instructed to closely follow these guidelines.
