New Start-Up Hub To Come Up In Odisha By March 2021: 5 Start-Ups, 4 Incubators Approved

The State Start-up Council Meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy were regarding the startup ventures in Odisha was discussed thoroughly.

In 2019 Odisha was acknowledged as a Leader level State in National Start-up Ranking at National Level which was attended by the Department for Promotion of Industry and International Trade. In the meeting, it was revealed that around 774 number of Start-up ventures was introduced, which gave job openings for more than 6000 youths in Odisha.  In the coming days, the startup ecosystem in Odisha will soon start, which will intervene through various strategic partnerships and expediting policy invasion. Asit Tripathy highlighted a healthy relationship of the support, facilitation, and handholding between the Incubators and the Startup administrators.  In the coming year of March, the complete setting up of the advanced Startup hub with state of the art standard amenities will be concluded. He even directed to workout suitable policy norms for the purpose.

Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary Micro Small and Medium Enterprises also drafted all the issued for the discussion. “The Council recognized the First Startup on 14th June, 2017. Since then because of the facilitating support, the number of recognized startup has increased to 774 including 250 women led units by November, 2020. In the meanwhile 17 Startup Incubators and 17 MEME Incubators have started functioning. More than Rs.15 crore financial assistance have been provided to 196 startups and incubators sponsored through 13 Nodal agencies”, he said during the discussion.

Subroto Bagchi, Chairman Skill Development Authority and Asit Tripathy also communicated with a Start-up couple of Kalahandi- Ambika and Sadanada Satpathy via video conferencing. They talked about their progress of work and various challenges they are facing while setting up their startup. The couple was working with Zoo-Fresh Foods brand, which has made significant progress and Prasanta Biswal, Evangelist of the Start-up council is in regular contact for any kind of support or help.

In the meeting, the financial assistance for five startups (Awalk Innovation Pvt. Ltd, Subhalaxmi Future Solution (OPC) Pvt Ltd, Sanlop Health Care Solutions Pvt, Ltd, Batti Ghar Sustainable Solution Pvt Ltd, and, Xioty Solutions Pvt Ltd.)  and 4 Incubators (Invocations Foundation, Berhampur; Sri Sri University Innovation Pvt Ltd, Bhubaneswar; Foundation for Technology and Business Incubation, NIT, Rourkela; and, KIIT Technology Business Incubator, BBSR )-  of 2.88 crore amount was approved.
