In response to worries about Thrombosis Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS), a rare side effect of the Covid 19 vaccine, director of Odisha Family Welfare Bijay Kumar Panigrahy has clarified that there is no risk of this rare side effect in Odisha because the immunization period has passed.
The negative effect often manifests two to twenty weeks following inoculation. Three years have passed since the first vaccination campaign was launched. Therefore, there is no concern about the Covishield injection’s negative effects. The news shouldn’t cause people to panic or get anxious. After getting the Civishiled shot, people should be pleased that they are free of the COVID-19 infection, according to Panigrahy.
Beginning on January 16, 2021, the COVID-19 vaccination program was completed in the State in February 2023. He said that a total of 8.15 crore injections had been administered during this time, comprising 1.31 crore Covaxin doses and 6.42 crore Covishield doses. The State was notified by the Indian government in May 2021 that the vaccine will have very few side effects—0.6 per million doses, on average. He continued, saying that as a result, the State government has issued a SoP for the beneficiaries and the healthcare provider.

Therefore, Panigrahi reported, “TTs (Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome) is not present in our state. AstraZeneca, a leading pharmaceutical company that collaborated with the University of Oxford to create the vaccine, has acknowledged in a UK court that Covishield may result in a rare side effect called Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS).
