IMD predicts that over the next six hours, it will most likely move west-northwestward and strengthen into a Severe Cyclonic Storm. It will maintain its intensity of ‘Severe Cyclonic Storm’ till the early morning of December 9 and then weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm tomorrow.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall as cyclonic storm “Mandous” develops over the southwest and adjacent southeast Bay of Bengal (IMD).IMD predicts that over the next six hours, it will most likely move west-northwestward and strengthen into a Severe Cyclonic Storm. It will continue to be a “Severe Cyclonic Storm” until the early hours of December 9 and then progressively deteriorate into a cyclonic storm the following day.
With a maximum sustained wind speed of 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph around midnight on December 9, according to IMD, it is very likely to cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjacent south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Sriharikota, around Mahabalipuram.
