Odisha As The Third State To Start Plasma Therapy, CM Inaugurated Covid Plasma Bank

With the soaring number of COVID-19 cases in the state, Hon’ble Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Covid Plasma Bank for the treatment of serious coronavirus patients. Odisha has now become the third state besides Delhi and Maharashtra to starts this procedure for the coronavirus treatment.

The therapy will be introduced at Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack, SUM, and KIMS Covid Hospitals in Bhubaneswar. A dedicated plasma bank has been set up at SCB Medical College and Hospital, designated as the nodal centre for the therapy.

Convalescent plasma therapy is a procedure that involves the use of antibodies from the blood of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 to treat other infected people.

The Odisha Government has already reemphasized its commitments to provide advanced medical facilities and necessary treatments to COVID-19 patients.

CM stated that ‘For me and my govt, the life of every person is precious and the State would do everything possible to save the lives of our people. I would like to announce that Plasma Therapy will be made available free of cost to the people of Odisha.’

The COVID circumstances in Khurda, Ganjam, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Sundargarh have the highest spike of the patients, the State Government has prepared to add 200 more ICU beds with ventilator support in these districts decisions has also been taken to allow empanelled private laboratories and hospitals to conduct rapid antigen tests at 450.

Even the Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy stated that around 7000 samples are being tested per day in the state and the number will soon be increased to 9000 per day in the next week.
