According to Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates, India’s pharmaceutical industry will be able to produce COVID-19 vaccines. And surprisingly it will be not only for our country but for the entire world.
The Co-Chair and Trustee of Bill and Melinda Have Foundation said: “A lot of very important things have been done in India and its pharma industry is doing work to help make the coronavirus vaccine building on other great capacities that they have used for other diseases.”
‘COVID-19: India’s War Against The Virus’– is documentary to be premiered on Discovery Plus on 16th July, where Gates speaks about the challenges faced by India due to the health crisis. He talked about the high population and a lot of urban centres are the major reason behind the badly affected health situation in India.
He further said, “India has a lot of capacities there — with the drug and vaccine companies that are huge suppliers to the entire world. You know, more vaccines are made in India than anywhere — starting with Serum Institute, that’s the largest. But (there are) also Bio E, Bharat (Biotech), many others. They are doing work to help make the coronavirus vaccine, building on other great capacities that they have used for other diseases.”
Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) is a group which is working on a global basis to build vaccine platform. And apparently India has joined CEPI.
Bill Gates along with Melinda Gates are working together with government, especially with Department of biotechnology the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to get advisable tools for this pandemic crisis.
