With the clearance of the Science and Technology Department, the Odisha Bigyan Academy issued the list of winners in several categories, with up to 16 scientists set to be recognized in five categories. The KIIT University School of Biotechnology’s Professor Khirod Kumar Jena will receive the “Biju Patnaik Award” for Scientific Excellence. The “Samantha Chandrasekhar Award” will also be given to the chief scientist of ICAR-NRRI in Cuttack, Dr. Sanghamitra Samantray in life science, Professor Bedangadas Mohanty in physics at NISER, and Professor Subrat Kumar Panda in engineering and technology at NIT-Rourkela, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to their respective fields.
Additionally, the “Samanta Chandrasekhar Award” for distinction in the biological sciences will be given to Professor Pinaki Dutt of PGIMER, Chandigarh, who works outside the state. The Young Scientist Award will be given to Assistant Professors Dr. Sarita Shekhar Patnaik of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Dr. Upramita Chand of the Regional Institute of Education in Bhubaneswar, and Assistant Professor Rajesh Kumar Prusty of NIT-Rourkela. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Panda, an assistant professor at NIT-Warangal, will also receive the Odisha Young Scientist Award in a similar manner.
Additionally, the “Pranakrushna Parija Science Book Award” will be given to Tulasi Swain and Rabindranath Majhi in the children’s and general categories, respectively. Furthermore, the following scientists will also receive awards: Prof. Dr. R. Bhima Rao, Prof. Dr. Raja Kishore Paramguru, Prof. Dr. Subhransu Shekhar Mohapatra, Prof. Krishnachandra Mohanty, and Professor Malay Kumar Mishra. A state-level ceremony that will shortly be scheduled will honor and celebrate the aforementioned scientists.
