Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik allocated Rs 70 crore for the development project of Chandi Mandir in Cuttack. The development of the shrine will be carried out under 5T Initiative’s Integrated Development of Heritage, Monuments and Tourist Destination programme.
According to the reports, the officials of the Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation Limited presented the plan for development of the shrine to make the premises more beautiful and attract more devotees. The temple will have a boundary wall and gates in all four directions. Besides, a new Jagamohan, Yagyan Mandap, Chandipatha Mandap, Mundan Mandap, Hanuman Temple, and a new Kitchen will be constructed. Khondolite stones will be laid on the floor and the premises will be well illuminated, along with installation of CCTV cameras.
The report further added that the road along Chandi Temple will be diverted. Apart from this, there will be a police control room, cloak room, prasad distribution system, drinking water facilities will be made available. A guest house of travellers will also be built along with parking facility and landscaping. The 18 shop owners who will be displaced will be provided shops.
