Bhubaneswar Dec 23:  At a meeting  held at Lokseva Bhawan on Friday, Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra discussed the progress of the construction of the three-lane Road Over Bridge (RoB) near Vani Vihar.

Mahapatra coordinated concerned authorities of Rail Vikash Nigam Restricted (RVNL) to begin the work in the principal seven day stretch of February one year from now following the Hockey World Cup is finished. He stated that postponing the demolition of the existing two-lane RoB and the construction of a new three-lane RoB in that location is extremely important to avoid traffic congestion during the Hockey World Cup matches.

To make way for the construction of the third rail line in the Khurda-Barang section of the East Coast Railway, it had been decided to construct a three-lane RoB and tear down the previous one. Since the 15th of this month, a brand-new two-lane RoB has been put into operation adjacent to the previous one.

Because the third line rail link was moving in the wrong direction, it was necessary to tear down the old two-lane RoB. The remaining six kilometers of the 32-kilometer Khurda-Barang rail line between Bhubaneswar and Mancheswar will be built after the old RoB is demolished, according to RVNL Chief Project Manager Pradeep Kumar Mohanty. The third rail line has a total cost of 581 crore, making it a supercritical project. He claimed that the three-lane RoB would be operational within a year.

In addition, traffic will be diverted on the new two-lane RoB while the second one is being built. After the construction of the three-lane RoB, vehicular traffic will resume on it, and the adjacent two-lane RoB will be used as a service road in nearby Rasulgarh neighborhoods.

Additionally, the plan for modernizing the Bhubaneswar Railway Station was reviewed by the chief secretary. According to the ECoR plan, the developmental activities will take place on either the Kalpana or Master Canteen sides of Bhubaneswar Railway Station. Before beginning any construction, Sri Mahapatra instructed ECoR officials to consult with BDA.

In addition, Chief Engineer of ECoR Rinkesh Roy, DRM, Khurda Road Division Manoj Kumar Mishra, Commissioner of Police Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Saumendra Priyadarshi, BMC Commissioner Sri Vijay Amruta Kulange, BDA Vice Chairman Balwant Singh, and other senior officers were present.
