Odisha CM Inaugurates Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre And Research Institute

Bagchi Sri Shankara Cancer Centre and Research Institute in Bhubaneswar was opened by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
It is noteworthy because it was founded in association with Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Bengaluru, one of the top cancer treatment facilities in the nation. Modern radiation for 300 patients each day and chemotherapy for more than 150 patients are available at the 750-bed facility. The major gift to Odisha from Subroto and Sushmita Bagchi is this hospital.

The Chief Minister, who was present at the opening ceremony, declared that one-third of the state’s cancer patients would benefit from this hospital, which will open a new chapter in the treatment of cancer by offering cancer patients in Odisha and eastern India high-quality, reasonably priced care.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Bagchi family and Sri Shankara Cancer Hospital and Research Centre for this significant endeavor and stated that his government is working tirelessly to improve healthcare for the state’s citizens. In the last 20 years, Odisha has become a leader in eastern India’s healthcare industry. Several new medical colleges have opened up around the state. Every aspect of health care has been reinforced, beginning with primary health centers. Recruitment of physicians and paramedic personnel occurs often. Just about 4000 doctors have been hired in the state so far this year.

Highlighting the healthcare sector of the state, the Chief Minister said that Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana has set a benchmark in healthcare across the country.

Now under the 5T initiative infrastructure transformation is underway in all hospitals of the state. Under ‘Ama Hospital Yojana’ improved infrastructure and quality healthcare along with facilities for patient attendants have been envisaged.
