The Odisha Economic Survey for 2020-21 has highlighted the state government’s future development approach which will converge on various areas for betterment.
As per the survey the areas which are to be focused – healthcare, quality education, and skill development, development of agriculture, clean water, employment, industrialization, and infrastructure development.
The survey also recommended the Odisha Government improve the primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare infrastructure with a considerable investment which also incorporates the private sector.
Other measures which have been suggested are- generating a large pool of health professionals and paramedics, skill up-gradation of health professionals, and delivery of health services at the grassroots level.

The Odisha Government has asked to examine areas like crop diversification and integrated farming with a thrust on small animal farming and poultry for the development of agriculture and allied sector.
The survey which highlighted the need for reliable, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure in both rural and urban areas will help to support the economy and well-being of the people. This will also help to ensure rapid industrialization and focus on the growth of small, micro, and medium enterprises.
Even the survey also stated that education and skill development is the main key to economic prosperity. So the Odisha government should give more importance to providing quality education to all and a sustainable employment generation.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the economy badly so the survey suggested that it is very essential to revive it by focusing on some of the key sectors like agriculture, infrastructure development, tourism, industrialization, and tourism. These sectors need to be focused more and this will help to improve the economy and will also give more employment.
