The Department of Energy, Government of Odisha qualified for the semi-finals of SKOCH Award 2021 and also bagged the ‘SKOCH Order of Merit’ award under the e-Governance category for the implementation of ‘Mo Bidyut’ application.
According to the official reports, the award was conferred on Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department. On behalf of the Department, the Director (F&CA), GRIDCO exhibited the key features & benefits of ‘Mo Bidyut’ in the Award proceedings. ‘Mo Bidyut’ is an integrated online web portal and mobile application for facilitating consumer services like new connection, bill payment, and grievance redressal.
The application has been launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in October 2020 and since then roll-out, nearly 1.15 lakh new service connection applications have been given online and around 7,000 consumer grievances addressed. The portal has not only eliminated the need for physical visits of consumers and the general public concerning electricity offices but also helped in minimizing time-consuming manual processes.
