The Swargadwara cremation ground in the holy town of Puri has been closed for outsiders, as informed by the Puri Sub-Collector Bhabataran Sahu.
According to the reports, only the residents of Puri who have died for reasons other than Covid-19 will be allowed for cremation at Swargadwara, as decided by the district administration. Puri residents need to produce self-identification documents and specify the cause of death for cremation.
Bhabataran Sahu stated that the decision was taken in view of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the district and after some Swargadwara staff tested positive for the virus and it will remain in force till further orders.
