In the last three decades (1993–94 to 2023–24), Odisha has exported software valued at Rs 58,815.61 crore, the Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Mukesh Mahaling, stated in the Odisha Assembly today. In response to a written question from Rajnagar Dhruba Charan Sahoo, a BJD MLA, Mahaling stated that software exports from the state started in 1993–1994 following the formation of STPI in 1991.
Software exports from the state totalled Rs 58,815.61 crore between 1993–1994 and 2023–2024, according to Mahaling. According to him, Odisha is one of the top ten exporters of IT in the nation. There are plans for software exports totaling Rs 900 crore for the current fiscal year.
