Odisha Budget Is A Game Changing One Says CM Majhi

Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, responded to the opposition today by calling the state budget a “whole new ballgame.” During the budget discussion, Majhi took a jab at the Leader of the Opposition for referring to the budget as a “name changing budget.”

“In this budget, we have focused on transformation, development, governance and Odisha Asmita to realize the dream of a ‘Developed Odisha’. We have made a major contribution to building a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and working towards a roadmap of Vision-2036 to build a ‘Viksit Odisha’,” Majhi said.

The budget of his government, he declared, is the budget of the people. During the election campaign, his party made a commitment to improve the quality of life for Odisha residents. According to Majhi, this budget reflects their pledges. In addition to healthcare for all, social security for the oppressed, infrastructure development, social justice, and communal and sustainable growth through the empowerment of women, youth, scheduled castes and tribes, other backward classes, minorities, the disabled, and senior citizens—the budget also promotes these goals.

The program spending is anticipated to be Rs 1.55 lakh crore out of the total budget allocation of Rs 2.65 lakh crore for the financial year 2024–25, which is 24% more than that of the financial year 2023–24. An average of Rs 58,195 crore, or 6.3% of the Gross State Domestic Product, has been blocked for capital expenditure (GSDP). Compared to all the other major states in the nation, Odisha has the largest percentage of capital expenditure in the overall budget, according to the chief minister.

CM Majhi responded to LoP’s comments about the budget being a “Name Changing Budget” by claiming that the Jumla government had been announcing vote-bank programs before. A lot of projects were abandoned shortly after they were launched. Thus, the people took over from that administration. All excellent people and Odia Statesmen are receiving the respect and consideration they deserve from our government. Numerous Odia statesmen have made important contributions to the language, history, culture, social work, freedom struggle, and establishment of an independent province. So, Majhi continued, in an effort to do them proper homage, the government has renamed a number of programs after them.
