Odisha Government To Act Against Infiltrators

Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Thursday that the state government will soon take decisive action against infiltrators residing in the state for extended periods.

“We have already discussed the issue of infiltrators with the Chief Minister, and necessary steps will be initiated shortly,” Harichandan told reporters, responding to queries following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, including one person from Odisha.

Harichandan strongly condemned the Pahalgam attack, describing it as a heinous act by Pakistani terrorists. “They have sealed their fate with this attack. The repercussions will be severe. For the first time, terrorists have targeted unarmed, innocent visitors to the valley,” he said, emphasizing solidarity with the victims’ families. He added that both the Central government and all states stand united in supporting those affected by the tragedy.

Following Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s revelation in the State Assembly last month that 3,738 infiltrators, mostly from Bangladesh, had been found throughout Odisha, the announcement was made. In line with larger national security concerns, the government’s planned steps demonstrate a strong stance on combating unlawful infiltration.
