Odisha Government To Float Global Tenders For Procurement Of Covid-19 Vaccines

Under the chairmanship of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the State Cabinet decided to float the global tenders for procuring the Coronavirus vaccines.

According to the official report, to ensure the complete and comprehensive vaccination coverage of the Odisha people, the Odisha Government will ensure to take all the steps to procure the Covid-19 vaccines from major international and national vaccination firms.

Along with this other major decisions were also taken in regards to the Coronavirus management and also containing the spread of the pandemic in the state.

Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra stated that the Odisha Government is committed to ensuring a sustained supply of Coronavirus vaccine for Odisha. In this perspective, the Cabinet recommended the State Government procure Covid vaccines through global tenders from major vaccine companies globally. The Health and Family Welfare Department has been permitted to carry out this process of global tender for Covid vaccines.

He further added that nations like Israel have vaccinated their people on a mass scale and these countries are in a much better position in terms of containing the world deadliest virus- Covid-19

He further stated that in Odisha health care workers, frontline workers and those who have taken two doses of the COVID vaccine are usually not contracting the virus. Even if they get infected, the intensity of the disease is not high.

While addressing in the media briefing after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra stated that the vaccination is the shield against the Covid-19 today and also in future when the nation might face another wave of this infection.

He further ensured that they are working on a mission mode to vaccinate maximum citizens as soon as possible for Covid-19.
