Odisha Government To Launch LABHA Scheme For Tribal Empowerment

Today, the Odisha government decided to initiate a new program called “LABHA” (Laghu bana jatya drabya kraya) aimed at empowering and developing the state’s one crore indigenous people. Under the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the State Cabinet accepted a proposal in this regard today. A fully state-funded MSP for MFP program is called LABHA Yojana.(Minimum support price for small-scale wood products)

The State Government will set the Minimum Support Price each year. A primary collector (tribal) will be permitted by the system to sell minor forest produce at the Minimum Support Price, which will be collected by TDCCOL at the procurement centers. Given that women make up the bulk of primary collectors, comprising 99% of the population, LABHA Yojana will incorporate the efforts with the Women SHGs of Mission Shakti. SHGs and any other informed authorities will oversee these procurement centers with support from TDCCOL.

The money will be transferred as DBT to the beneficiary account upon collection, and the SHG or any other agency will also receive a commission of 2%. The whole MFP collection as well as the specifics of the main collector and the procurement point will be recorded by the Procurement Automation System. According to the 5T principles, the tribe will gain more from a procurement automation system that uses technology to assure transparency.
