To improve security at the revered Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, the Odisha government has released a recruiting notice for the Swatantra Shree Mandir Surakshya Vahini (SSMSV). The Home Department has announced that 1,083 posts in a variety of grades and capacities would be filled. One Commandant from the State Armed Cadre, two Deputy Commandants, and ten Assistant Commandants are appointed as part of the recruiting process. Additionally, there will be openings for 31 Sub-Inspectors and 8 Inspectors. There will also be a hiring of 24 Assistant Sub-Inspectors and other roles.
One Sub-Inspector, two Assistant Sub-Inspectors, one Sub-Inspector (Armourer), one Havildar (Armourer), two Assistant Armourers, one Sub-Inspector (Communication), and four Assistant Sub-Inspectors (Communication) are among the other positions held by the State Cadre of Civil Police. Nine Driver Havildars, eighteen drivers, and one Sub-Inspector (MT) will be recruited from the State PMT Cadre. Additionally, 240 Havildars and 720 Sepoys from the battalion cadre will be recruited. The DPO cadre will be used to fill the roles of Chief Clerk, Senior Clerk, and Senior Stenographer.
The Additional Director General of Police will chair a committee that will supervise the whole hiring process. The Superintendent of Police of Puri, the DIG Central Range, and the Inspector General of Police are other significant committee members. Other members holding the positions of Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, Superintendent of Police, or Commandant will also be nominated by the Director General of Police.
