According to authorities, the Odisha government has instructed all district magistrates and collectors to finish verifying 63,848 unverified applications under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) by August 18. As part of the state government’s efforts to guaranty that no qualified recipient is denied a social security pension under the program, the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) issued the instruction. As of August 12, 63,848 online pension applications were still awaiting verification, according to an official statement released on August 13. Many of these applications, which include MEO user IDs in urban local bodies and BSSO user IDs in blocks, are awaiting base-level action.

A district-by-district list of the outstanding applications has been distributed by the department to the Collectors and DMs, who have been instructed to begin the verification process on a “mission mode” and make sure it is finished by the deadline. In order to assist the government update and streamline the pensioner database, the verification procedure also seeks to detect and eliminate ineligible applications.

The Madhu Babu Pension Yojana now covers over 36 lakh people; the department reports that 36,75,008 persons are beneficiaries overall. In order to guaranty that qualified recipients receive the social security support under the system, Suresh Kumar Vashishth, the government’s principal secretary, has emphasized the necessity of promptly verifying all outstanding applications.
