Principal Secretary Usha Padhee examined the bus operations of the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), Bhubaneswar, and the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) on Saturday in an effort to increase the effectiveness and safety of public transportation.
The review meeting’s main focus was on tightening safety regulations to guarantee rigorous obedience, such as frequent car inspections, following traffic laws, and closely observing driver conduct. In order to improve their abilities in safe driving, emergency response, and customer service, it also underlined the necessity of ongoing training programs for employees and drivers. In order to boost productivity and enhance passenger safety, there was also encouragement to implement cutting-edge technology including digital ticketing, real-time monitoring systems, and GPS tracking.
Venkatesh Balsubramoniom from IITM, CRUT Managing Director (MD) Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, Transport Commissioner Amitav Thakur, OSRTC Chief Managing Director (CMD) Diptesh Pattanaik, and other high-ranking authorities and interested parties attended the meeting. They prioritized upgrading operations and strengthening safety protocols.
The assessment also covered how OSRTC and CRUT might work together, exchange best practices, and optimize resource use. Usha Padhee, the principal secretary, gave the officials instructions to expedite the execution of the suggested steps and carry out frequent assessments to determine their efficacy.
