According to Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, the Odisha government has started talks with the Center on establishing a satellite launch center in the state. Speaking during a National Space Day ceremony hosted at the Odisha Space Applications Center (ORSAC) in this city, Patra stated that initial talks about the facility’s setup had taken place with the Central Government. He continued by saying that during the Union Minister’s most recent visit to New Delhi, the matter was also discussed.
According to the minister, the state government is prioritizing scientific research and technology-driven projects while simultaneously encouraging students’ scientific interest. “The state is getting valuable data on agricultural land, groundwater, and mineral resources, including their availability, through ORSAC,” Patra said, adding that the government was saving money in a number of sectors thanks to this data.
The fact that Odisha-based businesses were creating technical items like drones that are utilized in the nation’s defense system, he added, was promising. He expressed optimism that Odisha’s inventors and scientists will keep working in cutting-edge fields of science and technology and advance both the state and the nation. The minister also discussed the state’s intentions to create a GIS lab, a new ORSAC facility, and a “Science Bhawan.”
Odisha has achieved significant advancements in science and technology, according to Chithra Arumugam, Additional Chief Secretary of the Science and Technology Department. She encouraged pupils to visit the scientific centers and planetariums that have been set up at Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Ganjam, Balangir, and Rourkela in order to understand more about space and planets.
