The Odisha government convened a high-level conference to investigate an organized queue-based system for guaranteeing seamless and orderly darshan since the number of devotees visiting the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri has been constantly increasing, especially during vacations. The conference, which was presided over by Law, Works, and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan at Lokseva Bhawan here, covered a number of IIT Bhubaneswar methods for controlling pilgrims’ movement within the temple.
The suggested approach envisions organized devotee movement through five distinct ramps and crowd control from seven stages. According to the minister, the technology would enable orderly darshan for between 8,000 to 10,000 pilgrims and devotees every hour once it is put into place. According to Harichandan, a pilot model will soon be created to evaluate the viability and usefulness of the suggested structure. The Chhatisa Niyoga and the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration would then review the pilot before the whole plan is finalized and put into action.
The effort aims to ensure that devotees may have darshan in a methodical and hassle-free way while addressing the increasing number of visitors to the centuries-old temple. The meeting was attended by Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samal, Principal Secretary of the Law Department; Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh; Pranab Kumar Patra, Special Secretary of the Law Department; Shiva Prasad Mohapatra, Additional Secretary; J.K. Das, Advisor to the Works Department; Sridhar Raut, Chief Executive Officer of the OBCC; technical advisors from IIT Bhubaneswar; and other senior officials.
