Odisha Govt Proclaims Bank Holiday Across The State On September 1

The Odisha government announced that all the banks and financial institutions across the state will remain closed on September 1, Monday on the occasion of Nuakai.

The State Government’s Office of Revenue and Disaster Management has declared a bank holiday under the clarification of Section 25 of the Securities Act of 1957.

‘Nuakhai’ is a famous annual festival celebrated in western Odisha. Goddess Samaleswari is first offered Nabanna. After that, people celebrate the festival in their respective communities and houses. On this day, each family member of western Odisha wears new dress and celebrate the occasion by performing their folk dances. People greet other “Nuakhai Juhar” and exchange respect and affection.
