Odisha Has Adequate LPG, Petrol & Diesel Stocks Amid West Asia Crisis

The Odisha government said on Thursday that the state had sufficient supplies of LPG, gasoline, and diesel, dispelling concerns about a fuel scarcity brought on by the West Asia issue. Krushna Chandra Patra, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, stated that despite the Gulf crisis, citizens shouldn’t be concerned because the state has sufficient petroleum reserves.

He said that the state has enough LPG supplies and that the private sector is free to supply up to 50% of the cooking gas needed by hotels. Concerns about possible interruptions to global gasoline supply systems and growing tensions in West Asia coincide with the assurance.

According to officials, in response to suggestions that the US would loosen certain sanctions, India has obtained an LPG cargo from Iran to satisfy local demand. This is the country’s first such purchase since 2019. According to sources, the cargo—which was initially intended for China—was diverted to India and is anticipated to reach the port of Mangaluru. To guarantee a consistent supply across the nation, the LPG cargo will be divided among the state-run oil companies Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.

The Center reported in a different update that domestic LPG output has grown and all oil refineries are running at full capacity with sufficient crude supplies. There have been no complaints of dry-outs at LPG distributorships or gas stations, and fuel retail locations nationwide are operating as usual. The public was warned by the government to disregard reports of a fuel scarcity. Authorities have stepped up their efforts to combat LPG stockpiling and illicit sales at the same time.
