Odisha High Court issues SOP for virtual and physical hearing from February 15

The cases will be heard in both the virtual and physical modes of the Odisha High Court from the 15th of next month. The SOP has been issued by the High Court Register for this purpose. There will be an alternative selection process for lawyers and parties to be in person or video conferencing during the hearing of the case. Both presentations and private video conferencing will be held simultaneously. Lawyers and parties will be expected to be present at the video conference if no alternative is provided.

A special SOP has been issued for the case, which is set to begin on May 15. Crowds will always be barred within the court premises. The courtroom will be regularly cleaned. More than seven lawyers will not be present in the courtroom. There will be restrictions on access to lawyers’ clerks. Only senior lawyers are allowed to accompany clerks. No meetings are allowed inside the courtroom. Only court cases are allowed in the courtroom. The SOP is advised to leave immediately after the hearing. Lawyers will be seated in view of the social distance. It is mandatory for all people who come to the court to wear masks at all times.
