Odisha cadre IAS officer Vineel Krishna Ravella has been appointed as the Joint Secretary in the Department of Sports under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The appointment is part of a broader reshuffle, with the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet approving the appointment of 41 senior officers to various Joint Secretary-level positions.
A 2005-batch IAS officer, Vineel Krishna will serve in his new role for a period of five years from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, as per a notification issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. Currently, serving as the Commissioner, Land Records and Settlement in Odisha, Vineel Krishna has had a notable career in public administration.
He held the positions of Secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department in Odisha and Special Secretary to then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) rule. These positions are credited with helping the state’s sports infrastructure and accomplishments flourish. It is believed that his return to a prominent position in the sports industry is an extension of his dedication to children and sports development, now on a national scale.
