Heavy Rain Likely In Odisha As Low-Pressure Forms Over Bay Of Bengal

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that a low-pressure region has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal off the coast of Odisha. Over the following 48 hours, the system, which began at 8:30 am today, is expected to build into a more noticeable low-pressure system and proceed slowly northward.

The related cyclonic circulation tilts southward with height and reaches up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, according to the most recent meteorological report. The coastal regions of West Bengal and Odisha may get light to moderate rainfall as well as sporadic heavy rainfall due to this weather system. The southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Odisha during the next two days, according to the IMD, with an average arrival date of June 1.

Because of the weather system’s effect, the rain has been pelting different sections of the state since Tuesday morning. According to the meteorological service, Tuesday and Wednesday will see a lot of rain in various areas of the state. It is anticipated that the rain will continue until May 30.
