MLA Swarup Kumar Das from Balasore Sadar constituency in Odisha rescued a pregnant woman, who developed labour pain, from a flood-affected village and later took her to a nearby hospital.
According to the reports, MLA Swarup Kumar Das received an SOS call from village sarpanch after which he first reached district’s Mundadhar village. Due to the heavy rain the village is completely immersed in water, so he went on a speedboat and then rescued the woman.
The report further stated that pregnant women named as Mamata Rout alomg with her familu were worried as they couldn’t able to find a way to reach to the hospital. Later the family contacted the village sarpanch after which a call was made to the MLA, who was already inspecting the affected villages on a boat.
He immediately reached Mundadhar village and took the woman to the nearest motorable road on his speedboat and later to the hospital where she gave birth to a baby boy.
