The Revenue and Disaster Management Department’s proposal to amend the Odisha Government Land Settlement Rules, 1983, with the goal of lowering the conversion fee for converting OSHB or Development Authority leasehold land to freehold land was accepted by the State Cabinet today.
The land conversion fee for residential use has been lowered from 10% of the land’s current market value to 3% of the land valuation determined by following the guidelines set forth in the 1952 Odisha Stamp Rules for a Gharabari kisam of nearby land.
The proposed amendment shall reduce the financial burden on OSHB and the Development Authorities for conversion of leasehold land into freehold which benefit will ultimately pass on to the persons who have purchased land from the OSHB or the Development Authority, as the case may be, for residential purposes.
