Odisha Signs 4 MoUs For Skill Development; 22 ITIs To Be Upgraded Into Centres Of Excellence

By signing four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) at the World talent Center in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, Odisha made a major advancement in the state’s talent development environment. In the presence of Industries and Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, the agreements were made with the intention of preparing the state’s young for new job markets and matching vocational training with industry demands. The Minister stated that equipping young people with employable and future-ready skills is crucial to accomplishing the state’s long-term development objectives. “Skill development is not a peripheral welfare measure; it is a core economic strategy that will drive inclusive growth and global competitiveness,” the Minister said.

The collaboration with Tata Technologies to transform 22 Government ITIs in Odisha into Centers of Excellence (CoEs) at a total project cost of Rs 779.00 crore was a major feature of the event. According to the deal, Tata Technologies would contribute around 86% of the project’s cost, with the government covering the remaining 14%.

Modern labs and industry-grade equipment will be a feature of the renovated ITIs, bringing the training facilities up to current industrial requirements. Automotive, including electric vehicles, design and verification tools, 3D printing and additive manufacturing, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and advanced manufacturing, advanced CNC and VMC machining, advanced plumbing technology, process control and automation technology, and other high-growth and emerging industries will be the focus of the Centers of Excellence.

In order to guarantee strong industry ties and long-term results, Tata Technologies will also provide complete handholding assistance for five years, which will include the deployment of trainers, equipment maintenance, and placement facilitation, according to an official announcement.
