Odisha Technological Conclave 2024: Celebrating Engineers’ Role in Combating Climate Change

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Technological Conclave 2024, organized by Ever Green Forum, successfully took place at Jayadev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, on the occasion of Engineers’ Day. The event, which emphasized the critical role of engineers in the country’s development and climate change mitigation, was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Amiya Kumar Rath, Vice-Chancellor of BPUT, Rourkela, as the chief guest. In his inaugural address, Prof. Rath highlighted the pivotal contributions of engineers in shaping the nation’s progress.

 

A key moment of the event was the awarding of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” to Prof. (Dr.) Bibhuti Bhusan Biswal, Vice-Chancellor of OUTR, Bhubaneswar, for his lifelong contributions to technical education, research, and administration.

 

The conclave focused on the theme “Role of Engineers to Combat Climate Change,” featuring prominent speakers such as Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Kumar Gandhi from IIT Delhi and Dr. Prakash Chandra Jena, President of Ever Green Forum, who presided over the meeting.

 

Notable awards were also presented to technocrats and educators for their contributions to the field. The prestigious Odisha Technocrat Award was given to Prof. (Dr.) Debi Prasad Mishra, Director, NITTTR Kolkata; Prof. (Dr.) Subhransu Ranjan Samataray, Head of School of Electrical & Computer Sciences, IIT Bhubaneswar; and Prof. (Dr.) Satayabrata Mohanta, Director, IGIT Saranga, among others. Additionally, the Odisha Young Technocrat Award went to Er. Niladri Bihari Mohanty, Deputy Director (IT) at NIC Odisha State Centre, and Mohar Mishra, Co-Founder & CTO of Innovare Corp (India).

 

The event also included the presentation of the Best Teacher Awards to outstanding educators from various technical institutions, while academic institutions like IIIT Bhubaneswar, GITA, and KMBB Science Higher Secondary School were recognized for their remarkable contributions.

 

Panel discussions on critical issues were a major highlight, covering topics such as the integration of technology in pharmaceutical care, the future of technology in business, and the role of engineers and industries in combating climate change. These discussions featured distinguished panelists from academia, industry, and research.

 

In a closing ceremony attended by Prof. (Dr.) Manash Ranjan Sahoo, Vice Chancellor of Odisha University of Health Sciences, over 700 students actively participated, marking the event as a resounding success. Dr. Sunita Barik, Dr. Snigdha Rani Behera, Dr. Sanjukta Sahoo, and other esteemed professionals played key roles in ensuring the program’s success.

 

The conclave provided a valuable platform for technocrats, educators, and students to discuss emerging challenges and opportunities in engineering, particularly in the context of climate change, leaving a lasting impact on all attendees.
