Food Suppliers Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed the reporters on Sunday that the Odisha government will keep up the e-KYC verification procedure for ration cards till the final application is confirmed. The minister went on to say that the government has verified the identity of around three crore persons in the state electronically, and that it has already finished verifying the identity of two crore people.
“The process will take another 30-45 days to be completed. Once we complete the e-KYC verification process, we will come to know how many people have fake ration cards. We will, then, cancel the fake ration cards and provide new ration cards to the eligible beneficiaries,” Patra said.
New ration cards would only be granted to applicants who are confirmed eligible following Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification of the current ration cards, as the state government has previously indicated. New ration cards will be provided to those who qualify for benefits under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
