BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has carried out a significant reshuffle in the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre, transferring and appointing 27 officers to new positions. The Home Department issued a notification outlining the changes, which are set to take effect immediately.
Among the key appointments, AK Ray (RR 1988), currently Director of Printing, Stationery, and Publication in Cuttack, has been appointed as the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services. SM Narvane (RR 1989), previously serving as OSD in the Home Department, Bhubaneswar, will now take over as Director, Printing, Stationery, and Publication in Cuttack.
Vinaytosh Mishra (RR 1993), formerly Director of SCRB, Bhubaneswar, has been appointed as the ADG, CID-CB. RP Koche (RR 1993), previously Additional DG of Police SAP, Bhubaneswar, is now posted as the Director of Intelligence, Bhubaneswar.
In a notable move, Sanjeeb Panda (RR 1994), who held the post of Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, has been transferred to the role of ADG, Training, and Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA).
Radha Kishan Sharma (RR 1995), previously Additional DG of Police (Headquarters), has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Home Department, while Saumyendra Kumar Priyadarsi (RR 1995), who was Director of Intelligence, will now serve as ADGP, Modernisation.
Other significant appointments include Dr. Santosh Bala (RR 1995), who has been moved from the Home Department to take charge as Director of SCRB and SFSL. Arun Bothra (RR 1996), the Additional DG of Police CID CB, has been transferred and posted as ADGP, Railways and Coastal Security.
Suresh Dev Datta Singh (RR 1998), previously Additional DG of Police (Operations), Bhubaneswar, will now take over as the Commissioner of Police for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack. Dayal Gangwar (RR 1998), formerly ADG of Modernisation, has been transferred as ADGP, Headquarters.
Other notable transfers include Rajesh Kumar (RR 1998) to ADGP, SAP; S Shyni (RR 2001) to IGP, CAW and CW; Sanjay Kumar Kaushal (RR 2003) to IGP, Vigilance; Dr. Deepak Kumar (RR 2004) to IGP, Fire Service and Home Guards; and Jai Narayan Pankaj (RR 2005) to IGP, Operation.
Additionally, Anup Kumar Sahoo (RR 2006) has been transferred to IGP, Training at BPSPA, and Awinash Kumar (RR 2007) has been posted as DIG, SAP. Other officers reshuffled include Dr. Sarthak Sarangi as DIG, SR, Berhampur; Niti Shekhar as DIG, SWR, Koraput; and Dr. Umashankar Dash as Additional CP for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.
Furthermore, Prakash R (RR 2008) will take charge as DIG, Crime Branch, while Dr. Satyajit Naik moves to DIG, ER, Balasore. Officers returning from Central deputation, such as Akhileshvar Singh and Ms. Parul Gupta, have been posted as DIG, Operation and DIG, Computer, respectively.
This reshuffle aims to enhance the efficiency of the Odisha Police Department by placing officers in key positions based on their expertise and experience.
