Odisha To Implement Ayushman Bharat, Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana In February 2025

The state government will launch the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in February 2025, according to a statement made by Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling on Monday.

“The government will make a big announcement in the new year. Around 3.5 crore people in Odisha will get individual health cards in Odisha and no one will be deprived of health insurance schemes. A Central team has completed the survey for implementing Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the state, Dr Mahaling said.

In the upcoming year, he continued, the state administration is also determined to expand the number of nursing and medical schools in the state. In order to offer free healthcare services to families that are economically disadvantaged, an agreement will be struck to launch the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in conjunction with the state-sponsored Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. Individual health cards will be given to around 3.50 crore beneficiaries so they can receive free medical care from 27,000 hospitals that are affiliated with the public healthcare insurance program nationwide.

The Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY), which replaced the former BJD government’s flagship Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), provides healthcare services up to Rs 5 lakh in rural areas and up to Rs 6 lakh in urban areas. In contrast, beneficiaries covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana can receive healthcare services at hospitals up to Rs 5 lakh.
