Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announces that the Odisha government would soon develop a new film policy and create a special Film Training Institute to boost and revitalize the Odia film industry. At Sanskruti Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the Chief Minister made the announcement while taking part in a unique meeting with prominent actors and artists. The current state of Odia film and its future plans were the main topics of debate. Majhi described Odia cinema as a representation of the Odia people’s cultural identity and self-respect, saying that movies reflect a society’s memories, feelings, culture, and spirit in addition to being a source of amusement.
Themes rooted in Lord Jagannath culture, Kalinga maritime history, tribal customs, tales of resiliency during cyclones and floods, rural life, and the riverside culture of the Mahanadi and other rivers, he said, highlighting Odisha’s rich cultural and historical legacy. In order to develop talented individuals in film production and allied disciplines, Majhi recently announced intentions to open a Film Training Institute in Odisha. The Chief Minister declared that the current “Odia Asmita Government” is dedicated to building a robust film infrastructure in the state, criticizing earlier governments for supposedly ignoring the film sector. He promised that the expansion of the Odia film industry will not be impeded by budgetary limitations.
Odisha’s Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj, stated that when the state commemorates its centennial in 2036, the Odia film industry will play a significant part. He was optimistic that the discussions will influence Odia cinema’s future course. Actor and Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak, Digapahandi MLA Siddhant Mahapatra, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Saswata Mishra, Director of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department Bijay Ketan Upadhyay, and Odisha Sahitya Akademi Secretary Chandrashekhar Hota were among those in attendance. Anubhav Mohanty, Anu Choudhury, Pushpa Panda, Harihar Mahapatra, Pinky Pradhan, and producer Siddharth Agrawal were among the well-known movie stars that attended the event.
