The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has instructed all districts to complete the distribution of free school uniforms for Shishu Vatika students by February 15. In a letter to the District Education Officers (DEO), OSEPA provided detailed guidelines for the uniform distribution process. The directive also confirmed that each student will receive uniforms valued at Rs 1,000, with the funds already released to the districts through official sanction.
According to the requirements, Shishu Vatika kids’ uniforms must closely match those of Class I students. Two sets of clothing, shoes, T-shirts, track trousers, and hats are included in the uniform package. Authorities stressed that the requirements for Classes I through VIII must be met in terms of color, quality, logo, and specifications. Selected Self Help Groups (SHGs), Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), and School Management Committees (SMCs), all authorized by the District Level Committee presided over by the Collector, will handle distribution. For this academic year, there is also no need for a new tender or Expression of Interest.
Officials emphasized that the initiative’s goals are to improve early childhood education and guarantee equality among young students. DEOs were directed to personally oversee the procedure and ensure full adherence. The importance of the issue has been emphasized, and prompt action has been requested. The administration anticipates that thousands of Shishu Vatika students around the state would gain from the program.
